Description:
A surreal, colourful
1980's flat weave wall hanging by artist Marion
Perlet.
Perlet was born in
Munich, lived and worked in Toronto, Canada and moved to San Miguel Mexico
in the 1990's where she now lives and paints. Based on cursory research,
this was an early and unusual medium (tapestry). The consignor mentioned
a 1980's Toronto Life magazine article and photo showing this tapestry
on her bed in her San Miguel home.
Perlet's work was
recently featured in an Art
Gallery of Ontario show of Jeanne Beker's collection. In a
Fashion
Magazine article concerning Perlet's work, Ms. Beker is quoted saying
"I love the whimsy of what she does. I love the humanity in it. I love
the colour. I love the sense of joy". We couldn't agree more.
Condition:
Good pre-owned condition.
