Description:
This exquisitely
rendered
conte drawing of a young woman was purchased from the estate of Francis
Jane Patterson.
A note on the back
indicated this was a gift from her aunt, but the artist and the subject
are unnamed. Not only is the quality of the drawing impeccable, but her
expression is elusive leaving the viewer to wonder whether she is thoughtful
or disappointed. It is quite difficult to convey the delicacy and beauty
of this drawing with photographs.
Condition:
This was originally
framed behind glass but the frame was broken. The accident has caused small
scuffs to the drawing around the face, please see close up.
