In 1898, goldsmith
Carl Hagenauer opened a workshop in Vienna called Werkstätten Hagenauer
and began producing a wide range of metal ware. His son Karl studied with
such notable designers as Josef Hoffmann and became director of the family
business in 1928 after his father died.
This beautifully
designed and rendered copper pot features flowing, simple lines and smooth
grained dark wood handles A case could be made for the 1910's or the 1920's.
Whatever the precise age, this is a timeless piece, blurring the line between
utilitarian kitchenware and art.
Condition:
Good condition,
interior is marked and there is a small split on the wood handle.
Dimensions:
5 1/4" high, 4.5"
diameter at widest point, handle 7.5" long.
