Two 100 year old
Victorian carpet balls or more correctly bowls, for a game played and developed
during the reign of Queen Victoria, as a form of lawn bowling to be played
inside (on the carpet).
The point was to
position your bowl (either striped or sponged) closest to a small plain
ball while moving your opponent's bowls further away. These carpet
balls are made from fired, glazed clay and the design is hand painted.
Small nicks to the
finish, in good condition.
