Description:
An original London Underground poster of Epping forest by Clive Gardiner from 1934, lithograph on cardboard. Clive Gardiner (also known as Alfred Clive Gardiner ) was a British designer and teacher. Elements of Cubism and Futurism are found in his striking posters, for which he is probably best known. Born 1891 in Blackburn, Lancashire, died 1960. Designed posters for the Underground Group and London Transport 1926-1951. Educated; Slade School of Fine Art; 1909-1912 Educated; Royal Academy Schools; 1913-1914 ![]() Condition: The poster was framed sometime in the 1940s and the bottom of the poster that read "At London's Service" was removed. ![]() Dimensions: Approximately 36" high x 24" wide. ![]() Maker's Marks: Signed lower right: Clive Gardiner ![]() |
